Inaugurated the third edition of World Maritime Week

The inauguration of WORLD MARITIME WEEK has taken place this morning. The opening ceremony has been led by Arantxa Tapia, Basque Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment. “In this phase of economic recovery and reactivation, the truth is that we come with desire, and we come with the need to recover these appointments that offer so many opportunities to our business fabric. A wide range of possibilities, from sectors that are far from their reality but that share something so precious and loved, such as the SEA as the natural space that acts as a witness and as a potential for economic activity”, has highlighted Arantxa Tapia.

In the plenary session have also taken part Xabier Basañez, General Director at Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Claes Berglund, President of ECSA (European Community Shipowners’ Associations), Alejandro Aznar, President of the Spanish Maritime Cluster and the Ibaizabal Group, Juan Riva, Chairman of the Suardiaz Group, Javier Garat, General Secretary of CEPESCA and Luis Rodríguez Llopis, President of IDOM.

From today until next Thursday, BEC will become a maritime reunion point at the highest level. It will be a unique and long-awaited appointment, especially now; an opportunity for professionals in the sector to reconnect directly, when the economic reactivation begins to be an increasingly solid reality. Five congresses linked to the following sectors will be held in one place: naval (Sinaval), fisheries (Eurofishing), ports (Futureport), and, as a new feature this year, Oil&Gas Conference, which will deal with all aspects of oil and gas, both up and downstream; and Ocean Energy Conference, which will gather wave energy and tidal energy experts.
