World Maritime Week Awards, a tribute to maritime industry professionals

World Maritime Week, an event that brings together four maritime conferences in a single meeting at the highest level, has opened the registration period for the first edition of its awards: World Maritime Week Awards. To recognise the work of professionals in the maritime sector and the projects in which they are involved, four categories will be distinguished, one for each conference at the forum: SINAVAL, EUROFISHING, FUTUREPORT and OCEAN ENERGY CONFERENCE.

The first edition of the World Maritime Week Awards 2023 is an opportunity to celebrate the successes of the maritime sector, rewarding actors who contribute to the continuous improvement of the industry. Nominations may be submitted until 28 February and can be local, regional, national or international initiatives. Thus, any professional in the sector may participate in these awards: a company, individual, institutional organisation, NGO, workers’ guild, university, academic centre, municipality or any other category of agent that promotes the development of the maritime sector through a product, service, specific and/or periodic project or highlighting of actions that contribute to the improvement of the maritime industry.

Members of the WMW Working Groups and the WMW Scientific Secretariat, professionals of recognised prestige in the maritime sector, will make up the jury, which will judge and will communicate the decision about the WMW Awards. They will assess the originality of the project; its effect on the sector; the solution to the challenge or problem facing the industry; the expected benefit and profitability; job creation; the use of new technologies, innovation and digitalisation; the impact on the environment, sustainability of the project or the personal and/or business development, among other aspects.

The awards gala will be held on 22 March at 18.30 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre. Participants will also be able to enjoy an exclusive cocktail and live music, together with a network of professionals who value transparency, competitiveness, transformation and innovation in the maritime sector.
