Title: Marine renewable energy projects to diversify the shipbuilding industry
Topics: SESSION 2: MARINE RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS TO DIVERSIFY THE SHIPBUILDING INDUSTRY

23/03/2023 — 11:30 - 12:10

Diversification towards using marine renewable energies represents an unprecedented opportunity for the Spanish industry, which has extensive know-how in the value chain and infrastructure that could turn it into an international hub.

The need to reduce dependence on third countries for energy and the risk arising from changing fossil fuel prices, as well as the requirement to reduce the environmental impact of electricity production, necessitate access to readily-available and high-capacity renewable generation technologies.

The shipbuilding industry has a high degree of complementarity with the deployment of marine energy and must not miss this opportunity to contribute to a national project that consolidates Spain as a world leader in a sector with such high-development potential.
