NAUTICAL participates in the construction of the factory ship “Argos Cíes”

It has been a pleasure to assist to the launching ceremony of the factory ship “Argos Cíes”. It is one of the largest trawlers built in recent years. The shipyard Nodosa delivered it on October 17 in Marín to the company Armadora Pereira-Jupiter Fishing Ltd.

The “Argos Cíes” is 76 meters long and 14 meters wide and will be used mainly for squid fishing in the Falklands.

NAUTICAL has participated in its construction with the supply and installation of various navigation equipment, fishing acoustics and communications, among which the following stand out:

  • Monitors management system on the bridge unifying and distributing the presentation of electronic equipment in different configurations depending on the work of the ship at all times.
  • Very complete acoustic equipment from Furuno, Simrad and Marport brands, including, in addition to echo sounders covering a wide spectrum of frequencies, also a WASSP multibeam sonar for bathymetry.
  • FLIR day and night thermal vision system that will improve navigation conditions and work on board in fishing grounds with bad weather such as the Falkland Islands.
  • Regarding satellite communications, the vessel has a modern VSAT system that leverages always available connectivity to improve operational efficiency and safety, while providing all-important crew communication facilities.

We thank Nodosa Shipyard and Armadora Pereira for their trust, once again, in NAUTICAL as a technological partner and we wish the “Argos Cíes” and its crew a lot of luck in all their sailings.
